Day 86 (7/16/26) – Jekyll Harbor Marina to Kilkenny Marina

We saw a flock of white pelicans along the route. They’re migratory and are usually gone by the spring. Hmmm…
Beautiful roseate spoonbills.
This is the second time that we saw Termite the tug along our route! He’s keeping busy.
Biscuit at rest at the very rustic Kilkenny Marina. We had dinner at Marker 107 down the street.
Working boats are anchored on our dock, most likely crab fishermen. Atlantic blue crab is big here.
The view from our dock.
This map shows our long, winding route through some of the most beautiful coastal marshes I’ve ever seen. It was so peaceful and scenic. A lot of this land is classified as a wildlife refuge; some land is privately owned. Everything is pristine, unspoiled by industry. There were lots of birds and dolphins, along with many crab traps that we had to navigate around. The only downside side were the biting flies – I got really good with the swatter. My body count was high. See how close we are to Savannah? We’ll be there tomorrow!

Today was one of our longest days, although we could not have asked for better seas. We left Jekyll Marina on a rising tide and had no shallow water issues. It was calm and sunny, but very hot (it was 90 degrees F when we arrived at our destination).

For anyone navigating the AICW, we highly recommend Bob423 tracks. You can download the .gpx files directly from his website and import them into your favorite navigation system. We’re running a Garmin chartplotter alongside Aqua Map on our mobile devices.

Until next time – sweet dreams!

Pelicans are my favorite! So graceful, the way they float above the water and then dive to get their breakfast, lunch and dinner. Enjoy your blog and your photos! Give our regards to Rob!

    1. Fun fact – the brown pelican soars and nose dives for his dinner. The white pelican floats on the water and scoops his dinner into his large bill. Isn’t evolution interesting?
