This is the Bourne Memorial Window, a famous stained glass masterpiece crafted by Tiffany Studios in 1921. It recently underwent extensive restoration and was unveiled again on Good Friday in 2024.This stained glass window is titled “The Adoration of the Christ Child” and is located in the Faith Chapel. It was dedicated in 1905 and crafted by Maitland Armstrong and his daughter, Helen Maitland Armstrong. The scene depicts the Magi presenting gifts to the infant Jesus, accompanied by the Virgin Mary.A life sized reproduction of an extinct archelon sea turtle. They lived in the late Cretaceous period. Jekyll Island is home to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.Look at this cute little guy! He was rescued as a straggler and is being taken care of until he can continue the journey on his own. Sunset on Jekyll Island.
Today we explored a bit more of Jekyll Island. We visited the History Museum, Faith Chapel, and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, which includes a wildlife rehab clinic. We really enjoyed the laid back charm of Jekyll Island. Tomorrow we’re off to Ossabaw Island, a day’s trip from Savannah. Until next time – sweet dreams!
Love the memorial window! Adm of course glad you went to the sea turtle center – my youngest and I did volunteer work for our local efforts for a few years and I still support them financially. So important to preserve our ocean health!
