Day 17 (1/24/26) – Bristol Harbor Marina to Scipio Marina

We finally made it to Apalachicola, Florida after 5 long cruising days. We had some “sporty” winds today, but otherwise it was lovely and uneventful. We plan to rest and recharge until we can make a safe Gulf crossing to Clearwater, Florida on the west coast. It will likely be a couple more weeks. The…

Day 16 (1/23/26) – Sunset Isle Resort and Yacht Club to Bristol Harbor Marina

Today’s highlights include dolphin and bald eagle sitings. We had another scenic cruising day across Choctawhatchee Bay with loopers all around us! Very light winds, a light sprinkle of rain, and lots of dolphins. We are safely anchored in Panama City tonight and are looking forward to our arrival in Apalachicola tomorrow. Trivia: we’ve cruised…

Another good cruising day as we made our way across the Florida Panhandle. We’re safely anchored in Fort Walton Beach. Tomorrow’s destination is Panama City Beach. Then it’s Apalachicola, where we’ll rest and recover while we wait for a Gulf Crossing weather window. Looking forward to revisiting! Until tomorrow – sweet dreams!

Day 14 (1/21/26) – Biloxi Small Craft Marina to Lulu’s Homeport Marina

Today’s trip highlight – dolphins! They followed us for a bit as we started our travels and made our way through Biloxi Bay. The next adventure was our run across the impressive Mississippi Sound. We had 14 mph winds out of the southeast for part of the trip, which made for very lively seas between…

We’re baaaaaaack! We’ve resumed our Great Loop travels as we set our sights on Florida and the Gulf Crossing. We had a good (long) run today and are safely docked for the night. If you’re in Biloxi, I highly recommend Half Shell Oyster House for dinner. It’s a short walk from the waterfront. Until tomorrow…sweet…

Day 11 (12/18/25) – Boomtown Casino Anchorage to Orleans Marina (Mississippi River Crossing)

We had excellent cruising weather today – light winds and sunny. Today was a milestone day for us. We crossed the mighty Mississippi River via the Algiers Lock followed by the Industrial Canal Lock. We transitioned from the GIWW to scenic Lake Pontchartrain for our extended marina stay at Orleans Marina. We plan to return…

Day 10 (12/17/25) – Houma Downtown Dock to Boomtown Casino Anchorage
Today’s cruising weather was overcast, windy and chilly. It took us longer than expected to find a suitable anchorage. Thank you, Waterway Guide!! With each passing day, my situational awareness on the water improves. I’m on a very steep learning curve but getting better. Tomorrow we’ll cross the Mississippi River and reach our marina in…

Day 9 (12/16/25) – Morgan City Marina to Houma Downtown Dock
Another great run! One lock and many tugs later, we’re safely anchored at a cute public dock in downtown Houma, just yards from the GIWW. We saw a total of 11 bald eagles on this leg! They love to hang out in the tall cypress trees along the banks. We had a lovely dinner at…
