Day 121 (10/4/26) – Wilmington for the Winter

Kure Beach Fishing Pier in the distance. We were looking for fossilized shark teeth. No luck.
Kure Beach at low tide.
Early morning on Water Street.
Waterfront art on a foggy morning.
The day after our Kure Beach outing, we hired a guide. Pictured is Rob with Jaime of Tooth and Tide Adventures. Jaime took us to his favorite spots along the Cape Fear River.
A couple of tugs were spinning this container ship in the morning fog, so we stayed clear and waited.
Our fabulous prizes! Small, but beautiful. Very hard work, because my brain and eyes aren’t yet trained to spot them effectively. We definitely need more practice!

Our plans have changed a bit since my last post! Originally, we planned to put Biscuit on the hard (dry land) and winterize it off the Chesapeake in Maryland. As we waited out the recent nor’easter, we looked at our planned route and the potential impact of bad weather. Our new plan is to stay put in Wilmington until the spring. We found a good transient slip at Port City Marina and we’re very happy to stay a while. We’ll continue to explore the area beaches and sites until we’re home again. Until next time – sweet dreams!
