Day 106 (8/6/26) – Layover in Georgetown, South Carolina
Located in the historic downtown district of Georgetown, SC (near the Harborwalk/Front Street area), known as the third-oldest town in South Carolina along the regional “Hammock Coast”. The historic Kaminski House, an 18th-century Georgian-style mansion located at 1003 Front Street in Georgetown, South Carolina, overlooking the Sampit River. Built circa 1769 for merchant Paul Trapier, the house is a prominent example of Lowcountry single-house design and features a distinctive double-columned piazza and historic period antiques.Lush, green resurrection ferns (Pleopeltis polypodioides) thriving along the top of an old brick wall, fully hydrated and vibrant after recent rainfall.This classic American Foursquare home features a symmetrical square shape, a hip roof, and a central dormer window.This photo shows a classic wooden joggling board, a traditional low-country rocking/bouncing bench originally from South Carolina, featuring a long flexible wooden board resting on wooden trestles.A lovely southern live oak covered with resurrection fern.
