We had a short, scenic cruise to Thunderbolt Marina just outside Savannah. Another hot day with calm seas and sunny skies. We saw a large number of dolphins in the Skidaway River.
Fun fact: Georgia’s Golden Isles (Cumberland, Jekyll, St. Simons, and Sapelo) are home to one-third of the East Coast’s salt marshes! Their pristine beauty is a testament to the Gilded Age millionaires who kept the area largely undeveloped over the years. A huge contrast to Louisiana’s marshes, which have been repeatedly damaged by industry over many decades.
We plan to stay at Thunderbolt for a week to sightsee in Savannah and work on a few boat projects. Until next time – sweet dreams!
