Day 72 (7/2/26) – Layover in Titusville

We spent the day at the impressive Kennedy Space Center and I’m happy to say that the American space program is alive and well!
The impressive Vehicle Assembly Building.
The massive Saturn V rocket. The Saturn V program led to many firsts in space program history.
A mock-up of the shuttle fuel system.
This was our first time viewing a real space shuttle up close. There was intense competition for the retired shuttles. Kennedy Space Center received Atlantis. Johnson Space Center received a training mockup shuttle amid much drama.
Space Shuttle Atlantis.
Rocket Garden.
If you’re in Titusville, try Loyd Have Mercy for great southern comfort food!
I saw my first manatee today at the marina!! Watch how it feeds. They’re slow and gentle creatures.

We had a fun day exploring Kennedy Space Center near Titusville. I highly recommend a visit if you pass through. Get there early and get to the bus tours first thing before the crowds arrive. We’re off to Daytona tomorrow for a couple of days. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July! Until next time – sweet dreams!
