Day 17 (1/24/26) – Bristol Harbor Marina to Scipio Marina

Another good cruising day!
We stayed on the bridge all day today. I’m getting more comfortable steering the boat using Aqua Map on my iPhone as a guide. When Rob steers he uses his iPad which shows our route and waypoints. When I steer, I use Aqua Map on my phone. I’m not too impressed with Garmin, except for the sonar depth reading it provides.
View from our slip at Scipio Marina.
I recently discovered a new old school photo app called Mood. Check it out!

We finally made it to Apalachicola, Florida after 5 long cruising days. We had some “sporty” winds today, but otherwise it was lovely and uneventful. We plan to rest and recharge until we can make a safe Gulf crossing to Clearwater, Florida on the west coast. It will likely be a couple more weeks. The most dangerous thing on a boat is a schedule!

Thinking about all my friends and family that are being impacted by the ongoing winter storm. Stay safe and warm!

Until tomorrow – sweet dreams!

  1. Hope you enjoy Apalachicola as much as we did – although with hurricanes since then, the town may have changed considerably. I had been visiting there since I was an early teen when my grandparents lived there.

Glad you are not in a hurry! Are there many loopers waiting it out with you?

    1. Hi Jane! We love Apalachicola and have visited several times in the past. It’s pretty sleepy this time of year which is fine by us. We are surrounded by loopers! There are 3 of us here now. We plan to wait the cold weather out here and then meander to Carrabelle to wait for a crossing window.
