Day 1 (12/8/25) – Our Great Loop Adventure Begins! Seabrook Marina to Galveston Yacht Club

After numerous delays, I’m happy to report that Rob and I have finally started our Great Loop travels! We had a short voyage today to Galveston under sunny skies and light winds. Tomorrow we continue to Port Arthur as we make our way east to Florida.

  2. Beatrice & Rob,

I am so excited to see you two off on the Great Loop adventure as I will be following in your footsteps in the next couple years. I met Rob at Blue Dolphin and we have sister ships, mine is hull #860, a 1984 Classic 42 I see you adapting the posts and love the pics and now the screen shots of the chartplotter. The Day 1, 2, etc is also a plus as I can see the progress by day. You’re doing a great job so far and I anxiously await your posts. I am also from the NOLA area, Westwego to be specific and can’t wait to run into you guys somewhere along the way. My wife is Mexican and a reluctant sailor but she is open to the Great Loop only on transits where she can sight land. I am completing the USCG Captains course at her urging to ensure she has a “safe pilot at the helm”, like I can’t do this on my own says the arrogant sailor!!! Safe travels and smooth seas to you and your competent skipper.

    1. Hi, Allan! We finally started our adventure!! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my blog posts. I’m aiming for daily updates. FYI – we’re taking on an additional crew member to assist with the Gulf Crossing – I just don’t have enough experience or confidence to handle this route. The good news is that every day I learn more and get better. Tell your lovely wife that if I can do it she can do it.
