  • Day 2 – Galveston Yacht Marina to Taylor Outfall Bayou Channel

Another great cruising day! A bit chilly and windy, but sunny with good visibility. There are tons of barges in this section of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), so we were able to interact with many captains along the way. We also sighted our first bald eagles! Our first anchorage is quite scenic, in spite…

  • Day 1 – Our Great Loop Adventure Begins! Seabrook Marina to Galveston Yacht Club

After numerous delays, I’m happy to report that Rob and I have finally started our Great Loop travels! We had a short voyage today to Galveston under sunny skies and light winds. Tomorrow we continue to Port Arthur as we make our way east to Florida.

  • Biscuit gets a new home at Seabrook Marina!

After 14 months at Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores, Alabama, M/V Biscuit is headed back home to Seabrook, Texas! She will be docked at Seabrook Marina until we’re ready to start the loop (2024, perhaps?) In the meantime, we’re looking forward to cruising with friends and family in Galveston Bay.

  • November 8, 2023 – AGCLA Fall Rendezvous at Joe Wheeler State Park

We spent this week at the AGLCA’s looper’s convention gathering tips, networking, and touring beautiful looper boats. A great learning opportunity! We’re still in the planning stages for the Great Loop but hope to start in 2025. Joe Wheeler is a lovely state park on the Tennessee River in Rogersville, Alabama.

  • July 15, 2023 – Baytowne Marina to Homeport Marina

We decided to return to home port in one long day to attend to a few mechanical items. Ten hours later, we were exhausted and happy to be docked! Ultimately it was an uneventful cruise – no rain but strong headwinds for a large portion of the route. We found a good rhythm on the…

  • July 14, 2023 – Baytowne Marina at Sandestin, Florida

Another dismal, wet morning, complete with flash flood warning alerts! So, you make the best of the time by working on provisioning lists and catching up on email. The Biscuit at rest after the storms. After the rains cleared, we explored the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort on our rented golf cart. Many themed accommodations…

  • July 13, 2023 – Destin Harbor to Baytowne Marina at Sandestin, Florida

An early start today as we made our way to Baytowne Marina. We ran into more wet weather as we crossed Choctawhatchee Bay. We rented a golf cart and explored the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. A dramatic contrast to our previous anchor points. Variety is the spice of life! Rob checking out the fancy…

  • July 12, 2023 – Destin Harbor, Florida

Another cloudy and stormy day in Destin. We joined the Masingills and Boudreauxs for cocktails at Bochamps Seafood and Oyster House after Rob untangled the dinghy line from the left prop. I’ll save that story for another day. Headed to Baytowne Marina in Sandestin tomorrow. Can’t wait to take a real shower! Cocktails at Boshamps…

  • July 11, 2023 – Destin Harbor, Florida

We spent another day exploring Destin Harbor from the water side on our dinghy. We also took a quick trip to Crab Island to hang out with the young locals and tourists. Great place to people watch! Captain Rob on his dinghy Gravy. Riding the dinghy is a great way to get around the harbor…

  • July 10, 2023 – Destin Harbor, Florida

The weather has been a bit wet for our tastes – so we took advantage of the cooler temperatures and explored Destin. A trip to West Marine for a fuel filter (because, why not?) and then a quick trip to Winn Dixie for more wine and maybe a few more sundries. We met some really…
