Day 16 (1/23/26) – Sunset Isle Resort and Yacht Club to Bristol Harbor Marina

More bottlenose dolphins! Numerous pods followed along with us in beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay. They love to play in the boat wake.
A very large dredge rig that we interacted with today on the GIWW. It’s very important to contact them via VHF radio and let them know your intentions
well before you approach them.
Another commercial vessel that we passed “on the one” (port to port).

Today’s highlights include dolphin and bald eagle sitings. We had another scenic cruising day across Choctawhatchee Bay with loopers all around us! Very light winds, a light sprinkle of rain, and lots of dolphins. We are safely anchored in Panama City tonight and are looking forward to our arrival in Apalachicola tomorrow.

Trivia: we’ve cruised a total of 717 miles since we departed from Seabrook, Texas on December 8, 2025. The Great Loop route is approximately 6,000 miles long. We’re well on our way!

Until tomorrow – sweet dreams.
