Day 10 (12/17/25) – Houma Downtown Dock to Boomtown Casino Anchorage

Flood gates under construction
The workhorses of the GIWW
Deep sea rig supply ship
Aqua Map with more informational layers added. I can’t imagine navigating the GIWW without AIS and USACE survey data. It’s all about risk management!
Tonight’s anchorage (aka Plan C). Plans A and B were quickly eliminated based on depth and weather data.

Today’s cruising weather was overcast, windy and chilly. It took us longer than expected to find a suitable anchorage. Thank you, Waterway Guide!!

With each passing day, my situational awareness on the water improves. I’m on a very steep learning curve but getting better. Tomorrow we’ll cross the Mississippi River and reach our marina in New Orleans, where we’ll keep Biscuit until January when we continue our travels east towards Florida.

Until tomorrow – sweet dreams!
