Day 9 (12/16/25) – Morgan City Marina to Houma Downtown Dock

Another great run! One lock and many tugs later, we’re safely anchored at a cute public dock in downtown Houma, just yards from the GIWW. We saw a total of 11 bald eagles on this leg! They love to hang out in the tall cypress trees along the banks.

We had a lovely dinner at 531 Liberty Cafe. Their Tuesday dinner special just happened to be ropa vieja, my all time favorite Cuban comfort food. They did not disappoint! I finished it off with warm bread pudding for dessert. I hope we leave Louisiana soon or I will gain 20 pounds before we get out of here.

Until tomorrow – sweet dreams!

  1. I just logged on for the first time, glad you finally got away from the dock in Seabrook. Homa has some great restaurants and free water and power. Will check in time to time.

    Have a great trip! (Envious)
