We’re safely anchored off the Calcasieu River in Lake Charles this evening. My view is the Calcasieu Refining plant. I can practically smell the money.
Today’s cruising theme was barges, barges, and more barges. Throw in a tanker for good measure! Incredible commercial traffic on this waterway (Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, or GIWW). It’s a well-oiled machine (pun intended).
I’m getting better at reading the chart plotter and AIS data. Good binoculars are a must! We had lots of sun and mild temperatures – perfect for cruising.
